What a week
Wow, we had quite a week.. Last Saturday, Sal lost a co-worker and friend to a car accident. He and his wife were going Christmas shopping and their 3 kids were home, when he over corrected and flipped their truck. His wife had some minor injuries but after looking at the pictures of the truck and the scene its UNREAL that anyone survived at all... So, because of that the SGLs from the ANCOC classes did the planning and executing of the memorial and assisted with the funeral, both were sad and upsetting, but also beautifully moving. Tomorrow is my night to take them dinner and I am trying to talk myself into not crying when I get there.. I just look at their kids and COMPLETLY know how they must feel. They have ALOT of family staying with them right now, which is nice. I think once everyone leaves, it may even be harder for them for a while. MP ANCOC has the next week or so of taking the whole family a meal a day. Then after us some units around our installation are going to coordinate with our 1sg's wife and we should be able to provide meals for them for about a month. Last night after the funeral all 6 of the instructors and us spouses got together at a restaurant for dinner and a drink in honor of the K-Dog (his nickname) Everyone is taking it so hard, he was such a sweet guy.
